  • I hope whoever is mayor after the race deals with the lack of zoning and land development ethics on the planning commission and city council: It's a free for all.
Those yellow rezoning notification signs that pop up before the yellow bulldozers show up to install apartments and strip malls aren't legally required here.
    They should be.
Chattanooga homeowners deserve the right to oppose rezonings that hurt their property values.
Planning Commissioners can mandate the use of multiple notification signs in highly visible areas, especially for their personal real estate projects.
A glaring example why is the 25-acre apartment megacomplex recently approved on East Brainerd Road between I-75 and Gunbarrel Road. The developer's notification sign on East Brainerd Road was not facing areas that neighbors enter/exit their neighborhood. It also couldn't be read traveling 45 mph across 5-lane of traffic. And it was folded.

This rezoning is next door to several of Planning Commissioner Bill Hullander's family properties. He did not recuse himself from the vote.

This should nullify the vote, which is supposed to be based on proper public notification.

The only posting required is in the Times Free Press legal notices. Good luck finding and understanding those encrypted messages.

Proper signage will decrease the perception that city officials are enriching themselves through rezonings. East Brainerd Neighbors are organizing now to protect their property values at gettingfriendly@gmail.com and www.myspace.com/chattanooganative

Can anyone tell me exactly what Rob Healy - a City of Chattanooga mayoral candidate - is trying to accomplish by chatting at such length with a Polk County resident?
  • Maybe he's confused about who his constituents are since he doesn't live in Chattanooga either...
