The Dark Knight: The IMAX Experience features six action sequences filmed with IMAX® cameras, opening July 18 in select theaters. The 3D version of Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins sequel will not be showing at Chattanooga's IMAX theater. Currently, there are no plans to bring The Dark Knight: The IMAX Experience to the Scenic City.
This information was confirmed by Thom Benson, spokesman for the Tennessee Aquarium IMAX 3D Theater.
We do not plan on showing The Dark Knight at the IMAX at this time. Most studios require five or more showings of a feature film per day, and have length of run requirements as well. Those requirements would not work with our schedule of 3D movies.
Looks like nerdy Chattanoogan film-goers will have to venture to Nashville or Knoxville for those 3D sequences. Road trip, anyone? View the Tennessee Aquarium IMAX 3D Theater schedule.

The Chattanooga imax does not show commercial movies because they do not fit the educational 'mission' of the TN Aquarium. ask them. The U2 film was an exception for some reason.

As are other commercial movies they play?
Chatt Imax Sucks on July 18, 2008
And all this time I thought Chattanooga was a somewhat intelligent city. This is the stupidest idea that I have heard of. Chattanooga Imax suck, and it only buys in to tourism. I live in Chattanooga, and I will be driving to Nashville to watch Batman on the big Imax screen, it could save me a trip, and even generate some revenue for the poorly run Imax theatre. Chattanooga Imax theatre is a joke, if they were a business that actually cared about the city of chattanooga they would be playing hollywood movies on a regular basis. CHATTANOOGA IMAX = LAMEST IMAX IN THE NATION...

Chatt needs new Imax on Nov. 25, 2008
Dumb idiots! AquaImax needs some compotition. Or another Imax, I want to watch the Twilight movie on Imax, but that doesn't seem to be going to happen. My family is planning a trip to the Aquarium soon, but are we going to the Imax? NO!! We're boycotting it till they actually get their heads on straight. The dumbest thing is they are all about 'education' but all their 'educational' movies include evolution and I think at least 85% of the population are Christian and don't believe and that stuff.
