First Friday Five: Tennessee Bloggers for Education

First Friday Five is an ongoing project to organize one-day online fundraisers for local charitable projects. Read on to learn about this month’s goal and how your $5 donation can help.

This month, we're doing a little something different for First Friday Five. Instead of choosing one particular project, we're turning the choice over to you by partnering with Tennessee Bloggers for Education on DonorsChoose.org. It's an initiative that allows teachers in high-poverty schools to request funding for classroom projects. Then, donors can choose which ones to support and how much to give.

With the help of Christian Grantham, the organizer of Tennessee Bloggers for Education, we found four projects for schools in Hamilton County:

  • Donate $5 to fund a classroom project on DonorsChoose.org

  • Encourage others to donate by spreading the word on TwitterFacebook or your own blog
