Driving down McCallie this weekend, we saw a billboard with the words "Tiffany" and "Warehouse Row" emblazoned on it, but we were driving too fast to make out any more of it. A Google search has produced more information: '80s pop icon Tiffany will be the guest of honor at Chattanooga CARES' "Mission: Red Ribbon" benefit at Warehouse Row on August 2. (A pathetic thought? More people are likely to turn out for this one event than all the people who have turned out to shop at Warehouse Row this entire year, combined.)
While we are excited pretty much any time a celebrity decides to come to Chattanooga for any reason—especially when they will be visiting one of our sites most in need of a visit from, well, anybody—we have to take issue with a portion of a press release announcing the event. In the fourth paragraph, it reads:
Internationally known 80's pop star Tiffany will take the stage and sing all of her hits including "I Think We're Alone Now," "Could've Been," and "I Saw Him Standing There."
Now, this might seem trivial, and it is, but Tiffany had ONE hit. "Could've Been" and "I Saw Him Standing There" were not hits. Tiffany's only hit was "I Think We're Alone Now," and even that was a cover. Ask around your office, nobody will be able to name another Tiffany song but "I Think We're Alone Now." We just asked and nobody could. Regardless, it should be a fairly bizarre great event benefiting a great cause. Tickets start at $65, which is, again, more money than most of those in attendance will have spent at Warehouse Row all year.

pair her up with Debbie Gibson and you've got yourself a stellar event! The place should be packed with 40-something year old guys wanting to revisit their teen angst. Gladly/Sadly, I won't be one of them.

With the addition of Tiffany, they should rename the event, "The whoCARES Fundraiser"

At the event there doesn't seem to be anyone aroun-ound.
The beating of our hearts is the only soun-ound.

who cares how many hits she had...she's helping to raise money for a good cause. What have you done lately?

p.s. - you are all losers.

The IP ironically came from Jersey, y'all
She's not raising money, she's working for a group who are trying to raise money. They're raising the money, not Tiffany. She got hired for a job.

does it really matter where the IP came from? hahahaha ohhh, you're a tough guy.
Yes, she got hired for the job but at least she contributed to the cause. If only more people went out and became a part of causes like this there may actually be a cause. But, like most people because it doesn't affect them they just sit back on their asses and do nothing but criticize so called has beens.

make that - there may actually be a CURE.

We're just curious why you won't post comments under your real name. Who are you? (PS: And can you get us Tiffany's autograph?)
anonymous on Aug. 31, 2008
My name is anonymous. And I am a girl.
I already have her autograph when I went to one of her shows. Which was amazing by the way. And maybe you should do your research because last year Tiffany was back on the charts again with her single. Just because she's not on crappy MTV anymore or on the radio doesn't mean she's not successful. Check out her last three albums, as they are amazing. She's a songwriter now who writes about real life. She's come far in the industry as a vocalist, songwriter, and a person. She didn't let the Man keep her down. Before you say shit about anyone maybe you should do a little research. It's a shame people stereotype her the way they do, because they are missing out on some great music. She's versatile - she can do dance, rock, and even country although country isn't my cup of tea. Give her a freakin chance and stop being so closed minded. She's been through a lot in and out of the music industry but she is still rockin it out on stage. Gotta give that woman props.
More than I can say for you.
