It looks like Mother Nature will be on our side, so get off your couch and out of the house this weekend. Here's a smattering of what’s going on in Chattanooga: Topping the list is the 4 Bridges Arts Festival on April 18 & 19, 2009 at the First Tennessee Pavilion. Now in its ninth year, the Festival is produced by the Association for Visual Arts (AVA) in collaboration with Chattanooga Downtown Partnership (CDP). 4 Bridges features original art representing a wide variety of mediums, as well as live music and activities for children:
"This year, approximately one hundred and fifty artists were selected from over five hundred and fifty applicants to exhibit painting, glasswork, jewelry, textiles, furniture, sculpture and more. Art of every shape, size and style awaits you: familiar alongside whimsical, traditional alongside contemporary." -4 Bridges Arts Festival
And how about the 3rd Annual Dragon Boat Festival? 49 teams will battle it out on the water on Saturday, April 18, starting at 8:30am. There are lots of family-friendly events alongside the race, and make sure to note the new location: it’s now at the Chickamauga Dam.
The Scenic City Volks Folks, in conjunction with Village VW of Chattanooga, are proud to present Bug-A-Palüza 11, April 17-19 2009 at Camp Jordan Arena in Chattanooga, TN. So, polish up the old v-dub and head on over to Bug-A-Palüza.
Crabtree Farms is having their Spring Plant Sale on Saturday April 18, 2009 from 8:00am - 2:00pm and on Sunday, April 19, 2009 from 11:00am - 3:00pm.
Get out there and green up your yard! If you want to lend a helping hand foot considering joining in the Chattanooga MS Walk on Saturday, April 18, starting at 9:00am at Tennessee Riverpark.
For the fleet of feet there is also the Chickamauga Chase happening this Saturday, April 18, with registration beginning at 7:00am.
Earth Dayz continues up at Rock City this weekend, with activities including: Rock City Raptors Birds of Prey Shows, Storytelling & Hands-on educational art with Jim Pfitzer.
Finally, for all the music lovers, Sweetwater Brewery, Market Street Tavern and Hellcat Promotions are presenting Sweetwater 420 Festival at Miller Plaza on Saturday, April 18th 12pm-12am and Sunday, April 19th 12pm-10pm. The festival is a great chance to check out the local music scene and find a new favorite band—for free! And here are some other live music highlights set for this weekend:
