Following a remark by the NPSL Insider that a league team—by extension, Chattanooga FC—can't draw 5,000 attendants, Josiah Roe and Matt Davis have been working to prove that theory wrong. The pair started a Facebook event page for Chattanooga FC's final home game with the intent of breaking the 5k wall. The game is on Saturday, July 4 at Finley Stadium. Think of this as Chattanooga's version of Mythbusters. We want to do our part in this social media experiment, so we urge you to lend your support to the local team, and kick off your independence day celebration at Finley Stadium. For more details, visit 5,000 Strong at Chattanooga FC's Last Home Game.

Whats myfacespacebookmessenger? No matter how important you think you are, there is a world that does. not. give. a. shit. about ohh ohh ohh did you see me on facebook. You think the world revolves around you. Sorry. It doesnt. Countdown begins now. I say 100 days or less to the end of a certain Main Street 'web 2.0' company.
mwillingham on June 27, 2009
Dang, where did that come from? Am I missing something?
Allison on June 27, 2009
Wow Fred, one word therapy and take a very deep breath.
Allison on June 27, 2009
Is Josiah Roe one of those Stand people? Better defined: one of those political groups who gains recognition under tax exempt status at the same time producing jobs for friends. In three years, the next mayor will be from the stand list, promise.
facebook-146900541 on June 27, 2009
Nope Allison, I'm not a Stand person. I did go to their kickoff event and have taken the survey.
Allison on June 27, 2009
Ok, you can be cleared from the Stand designation if you believe the following to be true and correct:
1- Visioning with planners about downtown is tiresome, unless a microbrewery beer is involved. Then oK to vision
2- River City is not the real City Hall location as far as you are concerned,
3- Ann Coulter and the "gang" are a bore.
4- Ron Littlefield is the r eal Rock Star Planner
If true, then you definitely are not an undercover, polical, non proffitt, jobs for friends, CEO pay, group member.
facebook-146900541 on June 27, 2009
LOL, I don't drink beer. River City is a great/essential org but is not City Hall. Ann Coulter is awesome but I didn't know there was a gang (and if so, who are the members?). That last one is hyperbole, but I'd pay good money to see the Mayor let his freak flag fly at the next Bonnaroo.
Where are these CEO pay non profit jobs? Are there any openings?
Allison on June 27, 2009
You just missed the $100k CEO op at River City. They just filled that position two weeks ago. The non profitt's with political agendas will actually have the best salary opp. for you, although the CEO salaries are not as much, I suggest you watch, 1) the Lynhurst foundation, 2) the Benwood Foundation, 3) the Public Ed Foundation, and just for fun 4) Allied Arts, and 5) the Public Land Trust, 6) and the Ochs Center. These organization and all related literally.
For those that have been around since the Zar of the RPA, the gang matches the stand list, an interesting approach to promoting the next mayorial canidate.
Little Napoleon on June 28, 2009
Allison why are you spouting off statements without checking facts first? A 30 second Google search would have told you Josiah isn't "one of those stand people". And you still haven't answer the question I posed to you - if we could go back 25-30 years and outlaw nonprofits, what would YOU have done to revitalize Chattanooga? It's very easy to complain and point out the negative. How about letting us know what you would have done differently to improve the city?
stephen42 on June 28, 2009
Wow Allison, talk about pent-up, mis-directed anger. You are really hooked on Stand being a conspiracy. Which it might be but where is your proof? Is this "gang" you mention affliated with the gangsta disciples, crips, bloods, rollin' 60's... Those are the real crooks you should be wary of. To my knowledge Coulter's "gang" hasn't killed anybody.
Allison on June 28, 2009
The downstown air pollution you previously mentioned was improved with mandates of the Clean Air Act, and work of the Regional Planning Agency. The real driver was the movenment of industry from Chattanooga during the Regan years, and the City reinvented with the RPA. The RPA and Mayors did a great job, and I would not change a thing.
Zack on June 28, 2009
Allison -
Just wanted to clarify on a couple of things I hear you saying over and over on this blog.
1. "Ron Littlefield is a Rock Star Planner" - No, he is not a rock star. Yes, he is a planner. He does have a pretty great album collection - but that doesn't make him a rock star. His son tried to be a "rock star" for many years, but then settled down to play music mostly in the Denver/Boulder area and pursue other career goals. As far as planning goes, that's pretty much been his job in some capacity or another for the last 40 years. He was involved with Chattanooga Venture and Vision 2000 back in the day, both of which were very forward thinking orgs in Chattanooga- but to my knowledge he never moonlighted the local clubs as a guitar player, drummer or singer for any local bands. There were also no microbreweries downtown back then, so I am assuming that all "visioning" about downtown was done over PBR, Central Park hamburgers, or the late (but of so great) Vita Bella personal pan pizza.
You can read more here:
http://tinyurl.com/kvadeu- you might even find something about the "RPA" you mention.
2. "His administration is accessible to regular people" - You can make an appointment to see him anytime. Or, if you see him at the grocery store you can always go up and ask him a question - it happens all of the time. He's actually a pretty nice guy.
3. "He is not a developer or a River City implant." - nope
4. "His agenda is not to use public money to increase the value of his own property." - He lives with his wife in the same Brainerd house they bought in 1969/70, just on the other side of the Missionary Ridge tunnels (off Germantown road). Has no plans to sell or move. The city did put in speed bumps on the hills in the neighborhood about 10 years ago, but as far as I know, these didn't effect the property values in the neighborhood. Other than that, the neighborhood hasn't changed much in the last 35 years.
5. "He is a rock star planner." (see item 1)
Allison on June 28, 2009
You are preachin to the choir, I am a big fan of Mayor Littlefield.
mattdaviss on June 28, 2009
So, you'll all be there? Awesome.
sgrizzle on June 29, 2009
Glad we could get all of that settled...may I recommend friendly banter over a Big River brew on the Fourth at the Chatt FC game? Sweet.
Little Napoleon on June 29, 2009
Yes you are correct. I misspoke on that one. Care to answer the question now?
Allison on June 29, 2009
I have answered the question, the RPA and Mayors did a wonderful job. For the third time and final respone, I do not attribute the success to a controlling non proffit that is really an umbrella for political campaigns, called River City, as you do.
Robert T. Nash on June 29, 2009
Josiah Q. Roe is a graduate of Leadership Chattanooga, which - in my view - exists solely to co-opt independent thinkers with the Chamber of Commerce* Seal of Approval and groom otherwise well-born 'tarded trustfunder types appropriate access to put their greasy little fingerprints all over The Process...I suppose you can also say the program exists to give the otherwise unemployable Diane Parks a paycheck, what with her husband having to take retirment from CPD to get away from Capt. Psycho Bitch...
* What We Do Is Secret...
mwillingham on June 29, 2009
Perhaps, Mr. Nash, if you ever receive the honor of being nominated and are ultimately chosen to participate in Leadership Chattanooga, you will come away with a different point of view.

stephen42 on June 29, 2009
I had no idea you were so well connected...
Are you hiring? I'm not a 'tarded trustfund type but I'm sure with your guidance and leadership I could become one soon. Who knows I might even become worthy of being mayor.
Robert T. Nash on June 29, 2009
From my view you've got the 'tarded thing down pat...work on the money and get back to us...
stephen42 on June 29, 2009
Well I guess I'll have to defer to your judgement on that one since you have years more experience concerning all things 'tarded than I.
Thanks for reading.

Correct... I always screw up the said/typed thing.

Allison,
I didn't realize our Mayor started planning music events. Awesome!
Seriously, though. What does all of this have to do with the Chattanooga FC Facebook fan page? Is there something wrong with Josiah Roe trying to promote a local soccer club?
stevaker on June 29, 2009
sgrizzle,
Fireworks?
Allison on June 29, 2009
Robert T, excellent Info! Yes I am off task, but I have really bad ADD, sorry.
The Public Art list of folks you have provided, are so inner realted, it almost has delieverance qualities I would rule, Ruth, Larry Zehnder, Carla , Robin. I think it is Michele??
sgrizzle on June 29, 2009
Not at Finley because the City has fireworks later that night...we will have shuttles from the game to the riverfront from 8:30-midnight.
Good enough for you?

To take a position that nonprofits deserve no credit only shows that you clearly can't engage in a discussion of pros and cons about the process. Buh bye.
Allison on July 1, 2009
I take the position that there are non proffits attempting to credit themselves for the downtown effort when in fact it was the City of Chattanooga and local businesses that made it happen. Most of these development non proffits are really a tax exempt umbrella for a political campaigns. I wonder who River City and Stand are picking to be our next mayor.
sgrizzle on July 2, 2009
Don't forget why we're really here (on this thread)...getting 5,000 fans to the next Chatt FC game- 7PM at Finley Stadium on the Fourth.
Hope to see you there!
