By Chattarati Staff | Oct. 27, 2009, 3:34 p.m.

From the Electric Power Board:

This morning, EPB was awarded $111 million in federal stimulus funding from the Department of Energy to expedite the build out of the electric system Smart Grid.  The grant, which was sought after by over 400 national utilities, will not only speed up the Smart Grid build out but will help EPB add more points of automation on the electric system and provide smart meters to every electric power customer’s home in their service area.

President Harold DePriest will hold a press conference Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. to discuss the stimulus funds. The press conference will be at the EPB downtown building, 7th floor auditorium.
