Updated (Again): TFP Lays Off 15 from Newsroom Staff

The Chattanooga Times Free Press laid off 15 newsroom employees this morning, according to a Twitter post by Bill Colrus:


Just heard: The TFP laid off 15 from its newsroom.

Five of the employees include Darren Epps, Beverly Carroll, Mike O'Neal, Kathy Gilbert, and John Conigilio (photographer). Last month, the newspaper laid off four writers, including Washington D.C. correspondent Herman Wang.


Update: A source tells Chattarati that the cuts amount to a 20-percent reduction in the TFP's newsroom staff. Additional personnel laid off include Nancy Carney, Christine Simmons, David Cooper, and D. Pat Harding.


Another Update: Chattarati has learned that Jason Reynolds also has been laid off, but that the total number may be 11, not 15. Developing...

    Since the beginning of the year about 3 dozen people have been laid off.
