Featuring the works of more than 50 artists and designers from the United States and Canada, Leo Handmade Gallery is set to open its doors today. The Grand Opening celebration, from 2:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m., will include music spun by Chad of Chad's Records (starting at 7:00 p.m.) and the first glimpse at the shop's eclectic mix of handmade merchandise.
According to co-founders Bridget Miller and John Hall, Leo is primarily focused on American handmade apparel and emerging local artists. The shop features works by Young Monster, Kitty Dearest, Babble and Blush, Astronette, Emma Jewelry, and Mule magazine. Starting in July, the gallery will host thematic group shows or feature a different local artist each month. Ms. Miller is optimistic that the time is right for Leo, stating that "The new handmade, righteous, sustainable economy is key to our nation's economic rebound."

Very cool. I wish I could be there to check this out. Great to see Chad seeing records too. Much of my vinyl collection was purchased at his shop as a kid, when it was located upstairs by the Comedy Catch & the Missionary Ridge tunnels. Nice to see so many things like this developing in Chattanooga.

sorry...meant "Chad spinning records." I'm sure he can "see" them just fine.
