A large fire broke out in an abandoned warehouse off of Amnicola Highway late Monday night. The large white building at the corner of Elmendorf Street & Roanoke Avenue was completely engulfed as multiple fire trucks responded to the scene and attempted to contain the flames. At least four hook & ladder trucks could be seen above the tree tops as well as many more support trucks below.

Police quickly blocked off the Wilder Street bridge to keep curious onlookers at bay, but small crowds gathered at various vantage points around the area. The blaze could be seen clearly from as far away as Hixson and Missionary Ridge.

A short article from the TFP included comments from Chattanooga Fire Department spokesman Bruce Garner:

"About 12 fire apparatuses responded to the scene and firefighters worked defensively to stop the fire from reaching other buildings, Mr. Garner said.

A nearby building sustained minor damage, he said. No injuries have been reported."
