Marti Rutherford Files to Run for District Six City Council Seat

By Chattarati Staff | Dec. 12, 2008, 12:28 p.m.

In a display of mind-boggling nerve, Marti Rutherford filed papers yesterday to run for the District Six seat on the Chattanooga City Council. For those who don't know, this is the seat she was forced to resign from in October 2007. Perhaps the most interesting tidbit in the article from News Channel 9 is this quote:

"On September 1, 2007, I rented an apartment in Belvoir at 408 South Sweetbriar Avenue and have made it my primary home." -Marti Rutherford

Did we miss something, or does it sound to you like she moved in a last-minute attempt to diffuse the brewing residency scandal? For our money, you may as well vote for Samuel L. Jackson.

This is Stupid...... Marti has proven her self as worthy of representing district 6 for many years and because of something as stupid as "residency" that negates all the good she has and will do? GIVE ME A FRICKIN BREAK! What about other council men who have been indicted for oh I don't know what the term is FRAUD, Corruption, THEFT and Assault... and all Marti "allegedly" did was live outside of her district.... wooooooo scary........ Give me a frickin break! Look at her record... it speaks volumes for what she has done and will do when re-elected will do for our district........ You go MARTI! She HAS MY VOTE...

Allegedly? Ha! As a matter of public record, Marti Rutherford lived at 308 Hemphill Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37411 (located in District 5) prior to being ousted from her District 6 seat last year. Though I hear she now serves a mean tuna casserole at an undisclosed location in District 6.

If Marti lives on Sweetbriar, why is her newspaper still delivered every morning to Hemphill Avenue? Why does she call around 6:15 in the morning when her paper isn't delivered to report it missing?

I really don't care about Marti's residency issues that shes had. I just want something done about the crime and blight. Call it grand-standing but I have seen Marti respond to the crimes revolving around the tunnel area, rallying buisinesses and citizens. Where has Berz been? I dont think this election will be as close as many think.
