Joe Lance Launches Mayoral Campaign

By Chattarati Staff | Dec. 2, 2008, 2:07 p.m.

We hope you've recovered from the 2-year assault of Presidential election coverage, because the political season is just getting started in the Scenic City. In addition to several contested City Council seats (more later), we have quite a few mayoral candidates throwing their hats into the ring.

Chattanooga mayoral candidate, Joe Lance, kicks off his campaign on Tuesday, December 9 at the Brainerd Recreation Center. The meet and greet event is open to the general public from 7:30 to 9PM, providing an opportunity for citizens to meet with the candidate and discuss the issues they care about. The Brainerd Recreation Center is located at 1010 N. Moore Rd.

From the Joe Lance press release:

Mr. Lance, founder of TennesseeTicket.com and former political columnist, said that he invites "all Chattanoogans who wish to be a part of moving our city forward. Chattanooga is primed for prosperity, and in order for the average citizen to benefit as much as possible, we must all participate in ensuring that the principles of open government, democracy, and sustainability are upheld." Mr. Lance said that his campaign will seek input from the public on ways to curb the growing crime problem, retain and create jobs, bolster public transportation, and protect the natural environment. The public is invited to meet the candidate, interact with others who care about the city and its future, and discuss ways to encourage citizens to participate in government. Light refreshments will be served.

Meanwhile, rumor has it that mayor Ron Littlefield will kick off his re-election campaign at the Mountain City Club. Admission for the fundraiser runs at $150/head. Strangely, no one from Chattarati was invited, but for the moment, we'll assume our invitation got lost in the mail.

Full disclosure: Joe Lance is a former Chattarati contributor.
