U.S. Congressman and 2010 gubernatorial candidate Zach Wamp reached out to a group of East Tennessee conservative bloggers for a meeting this week. According to Hear ItFrom.us, Rep. Wamp gave a brief speech, but spent the majority of his time fielding "very tough questions" about everything from term limits to state income and estate taxes.
In addition to doing his homework on the bloggers in attendance, Rep. Wamp also made a point of talking about his Libertarian streak. He reportedly name-checked the liberty-loving Ron Paul on several occasions and talked about his commitment to homeschooling and gun rights. And despite being unaware of a "reasonably popular idea...to repeal the 17th amendment," Wamp may be seen as Tennessee's great libertarian hope:
"This is exactly what I hoped for from Ron Paul's Presidential campaign-I wanted the conversation shifted to the libertarian direction." -sadcox, Hear ItFrom.us
Confidential to Rep. Wamp: Some of us here at Chattarati share your admiration of Dr. Paul. We'll await your call for our own blogger meeting.

Hey...thanks for the link! As I said in my post, I'm especially encouraged that the Congressman sees the value in engaging people on blogs and Twitter. I'm relatively sure he would take the time to do a meetup in 'Nooga as well.

While we're at it, can we repeal amendments 16 and 18 as well?
It's nice to see Zach developing a Libertarian streak.
He has signed on to co-sponsor Dr. Paul's HR 1207, which would audit the Federal Reserve.
And, the newly-libertarian gubernatorial candidate has even signed on as a co-sponsor of HR 25, better known as the Fair Tax (which he once opposed on the grounds that, when it did away with the income tax, it would do away with deductions for mortgage interest).

I wonder if the bloggers asked the guv'ner what he considers his chief legislative accomplishments to be over his long tenure in the House?
Also, why is he always so mad on TV? They must be throwing a rager before every televised interview.

Happy to see Wamp reaching out to bloggers. He's taken to Twitter nicely. The way to round up the conservative grassroots in Tennessee is through social media.
David, why don't you try to get a Chattarati interview with the Congressman and pose those hard-hitting questions?

I'm on it.

16th Amendment gone... then let's talk.
