What is most interesting is that most folks see the move as an admission by Bredesen that he has given up on keeping the GM plant. I don’t think he has given up. He’s just playing the cards he’s been dealt. He’s not exactly working from a position of strength. He can’t match other the states in the running monetarily. We have a budget crisis and frankly our economy is, in fact, strong enough that we can afford to lose GM in a way that Michigan just can’t.
