MAINx24 Building Southside Habitat House

By Chattarati Staff | Oct. 9, 2008, 6:46 a.m.

MAINx24, the Southside's all-day festival set for December 6, is shaping up to be quite the event and will surely be remembered for much more than free drinks and live tunes. At a recent planning meeting, green|spaces and Coptix announced that during the week leading up to MAINx24, they are leading the charge to build a Habitat for Humanity home for a Sudanese refugee family in the Southside. Coptix also announced that their Christmas party will be a fundraiser benefiting Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga. MAINx24 happenings will include a Southside Parade starting at Battle Academy, neighborhood parties in Jefferson Heights and Fort Negley, an art hop and a bicycle scavenger hunt.

On a lighter note, the wilder Coptix party rumors center around live reindeer, four-story Christmas trees and an appearance by Sarah Palin—dressed as a naughty Mrs. Claus—assuming she isn't busy planning for Inauguration Day. Speculation has been swirling that the Palin appearance is a personal favor related to back-channel routing of campaign emails, but it appears to be unfounded. One final rumor about the party is that it won't be a Coptix party at all because the firm is set to announce a new name. Josiah Q. Roe, President of Coptix, declined to comment on these rumors.

What you need to know right now is: MAINx24 is not to be missed. And as always, Chattarati will have more details as they become available.
