First Friday Five is an ongoing project to organize one-day online fundraisers for local nonprofit organizations. Read on to learn about this month’s goal and how your $5 donation can help.
This month marks the third First Friday Five fundraiser, and we're proud to be supporting the Chattanooga Community Kitchen. Founded in 1982 by a group of seven downtown churches, the Community Kitchen now serves over 450 meals every day and provides additional services including job training, respite care and temporary shelter. Our goal is to raise $500 which will help the Community Kitchen provide 140 meals to Chattanooga's homeless community.
Here's how you can help:
- Donate $5 directly to the Chattanooga Community Kitchen
- Encourage others to donate by spreading the word on Twitter, Facebook or your blog
About the Chattanooga Community Kitchen For more than 25 years, the Community Kitchen has helped countless members of Chattanooga's homeless population make the transition to once again lead an independent life:
The Chattanooga Community Kitchen is a freestanding social service agency focused on meeting needs. Our primary goal is to lessen the poverty and despair among the homeless in the City of Chattanooga and to restore dignity and self-reliance to those we serve. In all that we do, we strive to serve the physical, social and spiritual needs of the homeless and less fortunate without expectation of recompense but instead out of love and compassion for mankind.
For more information, visit the Community Kitchen's website, blog or Facebook page. About First Friday Five Launched by Chattarati in February 2009, First Friday Five is an online local giving project. The concept is simple: organizing one-day online fundraisers for local nonprofit organizations. With your help, First Friday Five will:
- take place on the first Friday of every month
- use social media to ask for $5 donations
- benefit local non-profits and go towards specific goals
One More Thing This month, we're excited to share that our friends at Knoxify are joining the First Friday Five project to support a local cause in their hometown of Knoxville.

I hear only the cool kids give money to this kind of thing.
Using logic, you can see what variables impact your standing in the community, expressed through the following equations:
$5 + you not giving = Loser
$0 + you not giving = Child of the Recession
$5 + you give it = Damn! You is SEXY!!!
