Robin Smith Reports

By Joe Lance | Oct. 13, 2009, 10:46 a.m.

Third District candidate Robin Smith filed her first federal fundraising report since entering the race for Congress in early July. According to a press release, her campaign raised more than $149,000 between July 1 and September 30, or more than "the combined fundraising receipts of all other Third District candidates, Republican and Democrat, in their first filings with the FEC."

In an obvious swipe at attorney Chuck Fleischmann, one of her GOP competitors, Smith said that her finances include no personal contributions or loans, and added the following:

It’s time to give candidates who stand with working families the opportunity to fix the mess in Washington. My campaign will be about the people I represent, not the title I can buy.

We'll have additional information, including an apples-to-apples comparison of the latest numbers from all the candidates, as soon as possible.

(UPDATE: According to records available after June 30, Art Rhodes has also self-financed to a large extent, so it is not entirely clear that Ms. Smith was referring solely to Mr. Fleischmann.)
