Introducing the Highland Park Blog

By Lisa Flint | Jan. 4, 2010, 8:30 a.m.

Highland Park is one of Chattanooga’s oldest neighborhoods and has a rich history. There is much to see, learn and appreciate about this community and how it has evolved over the years.

Various Highland Park residents will contribute to this Neighborhood blog on Chattarati. Our goal is to use the blog to post news, ideas and general musings about our neighborhood. By sharing this responsibility, we hope to offer different perspectives and views about the things we see, feel and experience in Highland Park.

In light of the recent Stand initiative, some Highland Park residents answered the Stand survey as it pertained to our neighborhood in particular.

The first question is: "What do you like about Highland Park?" Here are the answers we received:

  • Highland Park is friendly
  • Variety of architecture
  • Sidewalks
  • Walkability
  • The potential of this space
  • Easy proximity to downtown
  • Bikeability
  • The various visions being realized
  • Diversity and energy
  • Different backgrounds and walks of life
  • Different races and ages
  • Socially active and civic-minded people
  • Working alongside caring, forward thinking neighbors
  • Front porches
  • A thoughtful flower bed
  • The fine potential of this neighborhood
  • Historic homes
  • Active neighborhood association
  • Highland Park is a real neighborhood
What do you like about Highland Park? And what would you like to see on this blog?

This is great! Am wondering if, maybe on a monthly basis, we could feature a house that has been renovated (recently or not), possibly with before and after photos. It could give potential neighbors ideas of the creativity of our neighbors.
