ChattUp, a gathering for Chattanooga’s social media fans, is back this Thursday night for an evening of conversation at the Chattanooga Zoo. ChattUp began as a simple Twitter meetup, created to allow online friends to put faces with screen names, and Thursday’s event will be our fourth—following great events at CBC, Medium HQ and the Hunter. ChattUp 4.0 is an all-ages event, so feel free to bring the kids. We hope to see you there!

What: ChattUp 4.0 at the Zoo
Where: Chattanooga Zoo
Date: Thursday, May 21
Time: 6—8 p.m.
Admission: Free (Cash bar: $1 beer)

ChattUp is sponsored by the Chattanooga Zoo and organized by Chattarati, dryan, Juncture and Medium.

It’s week two of Summer of Taco™, and we felt we had to knock a few heavy hitters off the list straight away. Last week’s visit to Taco Rico proved both fulfilling and challenging, as we negotiated our official rubric and faced the inherent difficulty in judging such an ephemeral food—nay, ideology.

And this week, we invited you to join us via Twitter for our second tasting, this time at the North Shore’s Taco Mamacita. Taco Rico’s polar opposite, Mamacita serves up fusion fare, with a good sense of humor and a few ironically named drinks. Greek, Caribbean, and Japanese tacos line the à la carte menu, but we had our eyes on one prize: The Taco Royale.

The Scenic City sure does love its classic rock n’ roll, and it has a similar aching love for the arts. What better way to mix the best of both worlds than to have an art lover’s party with a rock n’ roll theme. The Hunter Museum’s annual Underground extravaganza will do just that on Friday, March 27. This year’s event, Underground: Exile on High Street, showcases the work of local and regional artists set to the sounds of the Rolling Stones.

Where Will You Wipe the Slate Clean This Year?

Well, it’s almost here again, the one night of the year when everyone you know puts an unhealthy amount of pressure on you to have the greatest time of your life. And then for the next few weeks you pretend you’re going to change all your bad habits in the new year. I know you can quit anytime. Don’t get defensive on me, buddy.

Chattanooga may not rank as a travel destination for New Years Eve, but that didn’t stop BBW Magazine from listing Chattanooga, along with Hawaii and Yosemite National Park, on their list of 8 great places to celebrate New Years Eve. Sure that was 7 years ago, but what’s really changed about being big and beautiful? Curves not required, but certainly welcome. I actually did hear it gets pretty wild in Yosemite.

Didn't you need a drink before voting for some of those candidates?

Chattarati will try to feature a new photo every weekday, but we need you, our faithful readers, to add your pics to our Flickr group.
